Poor Tom

Originally scheduled for Led Zeppelin
III, "Poor Tom" was one of the tracks that didn't make the
cut. It also wasn't considered suitable for Physical Graffiti, the
album conceived as a way to release assorted odds and ends that hadn't
made it onto previous records along with some new material.
Finally in 1982 it was released on the last odds and ends collection,
Coda. For some reason "Poor Tom" was never played live,
though some rough tracks from Bron Yr Aur cottage in May 1970 reveal
some early work on the track, which was eventually recorded the next
month at Olympic studios in Barnes, England. The track features a
crazy New Orleans-style shuffle beat and tells a twisted tale about a
man condemned for what he did after being done wrong.
