Ramble OnAnother frequently-played radio track
from Led Zeppelin II, this song was never played in its entirety during
any Zeppelin concert. Drawing heavily from the work of British fantasy novelist
J.R.R. Tolkien, "Ramble On" tells tales of wandering adventurers and abductions
of fair maidens by evil creatures. Recognizing its long-lasting popularity, Jimmy
Page and Robert Plant have included it in virtually every show on their 1995 and 1998
tours. Alternating lyrical verses and heavy choruses make "Ramble On" a
vivid example of Led Zeppelin's ability to employ musical contrast with varying degrees of
subtlety, which made their work much more varied than their often monotonously
hard-rocking contemporaries. Sound Clips Back to the Setlist page |
