Livin' Lovin' MaidJimmy Page has named this song as the
track he disliked the most out of all the songs in the Led Zeppelin
catalog. Seems he didn't like the band joining in on vocals and
singing "downnn...." before the chorus. As a favor to
Jimmy, we've left that part out of our live versions of this catchy tune
that's always played on the radio right after Heartbreaker, as it
appeared on the album. It was originally released as the B side to
the Whole Lotta Love single, and later became an A side single in its
own right. Though "Livin' Lovin' Maid" was never
performed live by Led Zeppelin, Plant did make mention of it once after
performing Heartbreaker at Hamburg in 1970, and in between-song banter
at Earl's Court on May 24, 1975. He actually performed it live on
his Manic Nirvana tour in 1990. Reportedly about a persistent
west-coast groupie "with a purple umbrella and a fifty-cent
hat", this one always seems to get a crowd going. Back to the Setlist page |
