Originally released on 1975's Physical
Graffiti, "Kashmir" is one of the most memorable songs in the Zeppelin
canon and one of the most influential tracks in rock history. Rich in eastern
influence and dripping with drama and tension, "Kashmir" was first performed in
Rotterdam on January 11, 1975 and was played throughout the balance of Led Zeppelin's
stage career. Robert Plant has said that it is "Kashmir", not
"Stairway to Heaven", that should be remembered as the essence of the band.
If "The Song Remains the Same" is analogous to Zeppelin's mission to the
moon, then "Kashmir" took them beyond the solar system. The Levee takes
special care to ensure that the full power of this cosmic composition is not lost on any
member of the audience.
