How Many More Times  Led Zeppelin I

The earliest concert showcase number for Led Zeppelin was the fantastic finale of Led Zeppelin I from early 1969.  "How Many More Times" is based on a pile of other tracks, including bluesman Howlin' Wolf's "How Many More Years?", as well as Page's Yardbirds arrangement of "Smokestack Lightning", Booker T and MG's "The Hunter", a 1968 track by Plant and Alexis Korner called "Steal Away", and even Ravel's "Bolero".  Dispensing with some of the bombast of the studio cut, The Levee goes for more of the flavor of live performances of the song, which were very frequent from the earliest days of the group until its replacement with "Whole Lotta Love" as the medley number.  "How Many More Times" reappeared twice during the legendary Japanese tour of 1971 and then again in 1975 as Page nursed a broken finger.  It was then resurrected for the 1998 Page and Plant tour, and was a crowd favorite night after night.
